Kenosha and Racine Area Service: On Sunday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m., a Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for 500 Years of God’s Gracious Gift of the Lutheran Reformation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 510 Kewaunee St., Racine, WI 53402. Sponsored by Lutheran congregations in the Kenosha and Racine Circuits. The service will include a sermon by the Rev. David Petersen of Redeemer Lutheran Church (Fort Wayne, Indiana) and a Celebration Choir consisting of singers from area Lutheran churches – including St. Paul’s Lutheran Choir – under the direction of Arthur Preuss, Sr. Pre-service music will begin at 3:45 p.m. and the service will be followed by a dinner of brats, hotdogs, German potato salad, and ice cream. All are welcome to join the service and are asked to bring a side dish to pass for the meal.
Evening of Prayer Honoring the Reformation: On Tuesday evening, Oct. 31, the actual day of Reformation, Elm Grove Lutheran Church will hold a Service of Evening Prayer at 5 p.m., in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation. A Special Worship Service on Reformation Evening: The five partner groups that work together with the Milwaukee Karenni ministry will hold a special bi-lingual worship service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The service will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 11313 N. Riverland Rd. in Mequon, and all are welcome to attend.
The five partner groups include the Karenni themselves, (who meet each Sunday at 11:30 AM), Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church (where many Karenni have become members and where they gather for worship), Trinity Lutheran of Freistadt (where many of the Karenni attend Lutheran Day School), Beautiful Savior in Mequon, and Faith in Germantown. Special music from each partner congregation will highlight the service, and participants will include Daniel Reh (a Karenni student at CUW preparing for the ministry), Rev. Carl Lehenbauer (Trinity), Rev. Josh Rusert (Trinity), Rev. David Zeuschner (Chapel of the Cross), Rev. Philip Hillenbrand (Beautiful Savior) and Rev. Thomas Kaul (Faith). Pastor Lehenbauer will serve as the preacher for the day.

Special Reformation Chapel Service at Milwaukee Lutheran High School: In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, a special chapel service will be held at Milwaukee Lutheran on Nov. 1 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with pre-service music, dismissing at 11 a.m. The chapel service will run from 9:50-10:40 a.m.
