Opportunities to reach our Hispanic neighbors continue to expand in SWD. CPTLN (“Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones” or “Christ for all Nations”), a unique partnership between SWD congregations, SWD, and Lutheran Hour Ministries, and with a grant from the Siebert Lutheran Foundation, has solidified outreach efforts on the south side of Milwaukee and in Racine. Four congregations have regular worship in Spanish. Pastor Alfonso Prada pastors St. Martini and has forged a great relationship with our LUMIN school there. Pastor German Novelli, Jr., ordained in December of 2014, leads Grace Lutheran Church and continues to expand efforts to their Hispanic community. Pastor Tim Sims serves a bilingual ministry at Oklahoma Avenue Lutheran Church, and Edmundo Rosales, a student in the Center for Hispanic Studies at the St. Louis Seminary, helps lead Santa Cruz (“Primera Iglesia”) in Racine with help from mentor Pastor Douglas Groll. Currently, new opportunities for ministry in Sheboygan, Beloit, and through prison chaplaincy are being explored.
