Submit an article or story idea online - articles submitted on the website are also considered for the South Wisconsin News print edition.

DEADLINE DATES ARE ADHERED TO STRICTLY. Deadline dates cannot be extended for anyone. The editor and printer have their own deadlines, and making exceptions causes undue problems for many others. Newspapers will be sent to congregations by first Sunday of odd-numbered months.

PLAN AHEAD. When publicizing events, keep in mind that the deadline falls one full month before that issue is in the congregations. For example, you would not wish to include registration information for an upcoming conference that will be over by the time the paper comes out.

 

YOU MUST WRITE YOUR OWN ARTICLES. The District office does not have a staff of reporters, photographers, and writers. If you write a note saying, "Please write an article about...," we cannot unfortunately, honor those requests. Likewise, while we love to receive your church newsletters, we cannot author articles about what is happening in your parish. You must submit written articles for inclusion in the newspaper.

 

PROPER FORMAT AND STYLE IS NEEDED.

  • All articles must be typed.
  • All articles must be double spaced.
  • Maximum length is 1.5 pages (in a normal-sized text font); the more concise, the better.
  • Include a brief headline.
  • List author’s name and position (e.g., Stewardship Committee, St. John/Anytown).
  • Please include a contact name, phone number and e-mail address in case we have questions.

PHOTOGRAPHS, LOGOS, LINE DRAWINGS, AND CLIP ART ARE VALUED. Graphics catch the reader’s eye and greatly enhance your submission. Photographs should include captions and all people should be named. Closeups or portraits are preferred over group shots for installations, ordinations, etc. Graphics, logos, and drawings all should be camera ready. Images will be returned upon request if a self-addressed stamped envelope  is included.
