 Reconstruction work has begun on Capitol Drive in Milwaukee between 60th and 84th Streets, including in front of the District office. Through the end of July, Capitol Drive is open only on the southern side of the roadway with one lane of traffic in each direction. Northbound 81st Street is closed, preventing access to the building's parking lot from Capitol Drive. Alternate routes are suggested by approaching from the north via 84th Street or Appleton Avenue to Hope Avenue and then south on 81st Street to the District office. Map

The “Passionate Leaders" conference is for pastors, principals, teachers and leaders of our congregations and schools. The day will provide learning and interaction with Synod representatives, District staff, and other mission leaders. You will gain many resources throughout the conference to "Multiply, Magnify, and Maximize" your ministries!
Cost is $25 per person or $75 per "church." Fee includes presenters, materials and lunch.

Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 2011, our Lord Jesus welcomed SWD Business Manager Debbie Novak into his eternal rest. While we mourn her loss, we also rejoice in the victory which our Lord Jesus has won for us at the cross and at the tomb. "Christ is risen!"
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1 from 4-8 p.m. at Novak Funeral Home, Sheboygan. Visitation continues Wednesday, March 2, from 10-11 a.m. at Bethlehem, Sheboygan. The funeral service follows at 11 a.m., Rev. Alan Kubow officiating. The South Wisconsin District office will be closed Wednesday so that staff have the opportunity to attend Deb’s funeral.

Struggling financially, Camp LuWiSoMo is shutting down during the winter months. In a recent letter one of the Camp board members wrote, “Rather than have President Wille act alone, the camp board decided that it was necessary to suspend operations at the camp for a period of six months.”
The suspension of day to day operations will begin Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 and continue through April 30, 2010.
The South Wisconsin District office is looking for a part-time receptionist. The hours would be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If interested, please send your resume to Debra Novak at the District office, 8100 W. Capitol Dr., Milwaukee, WI 53222. Any questions, call Debra at (414) 464-8100.

The revised IRS 403(b) regulations governing Tax-deferred Savings Plans and Tax-sheltered Annuities that go into effect on Jan. 1, 2009, will have a significant impact for all employers that have at any time offered a 403(b) to their employees. Depending on the employer’s ultimate decision and action, employees can be affected as well.
