October is pastor appreciation month
October is designated Pastor Appreciation Month. Every church recognizes the important work that their pastor does, but it can be hard to know how to show appreciation. The ministerial health board of the South Wisconsin District has put together some bulletin inserts for your church to help you celebrate your pastor during October (and throughout the year!).
Below are links to four bulletin inserts (PDF files), one for each Sunday in October. They are called, "Pastoral Care and Care for Your Pastor," parts 1-4. The first insert introduces the notion of caring for your pastor; the second provides some concrete suggestions on appreciating and respecting him; the third provides suggestions for caring for his wife and/or family (including ideas about caring for the pastor who is a bachelor); and the fourth provides concrete ideas on how your church can start an initiative to care for your pastor year round.
The inserts can be printed and put into the bulletins, in order, each Sunday in October. We recommend the following bulletin announcement about the inserts. These announcements should also be included each Sunday:
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. See the insert this week from the District's ministerial board of health about how you and your church can care for your pastor.
We hope that you will photocopy and incorporate these into your bulletins over the four weeks of October. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the District office or any member of the board.
God bless you and your congregation.
Yours in Christ,
President John Wille and the
SWD ministerial health board
