Seminary library on the grounds of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria.
Your gifts were well received!

Many of you remember bringing used hymnals, clothing, theology books, paraments and other articles to our collection at the District office for the Lutheran Church of Nigeria (LCN) last November and December. We reported to you in January that the 40-foot container of 15,000 books and all the rest was on its way to Port Harcourt. Everything arrived safely and has by now been taken to the LCN seminary, where the items are being stored and distributed to congregations. The people are overjoyed with your gifts!

“Thank you for assisting us and showing us great love in the light of the gospel,” Rev. E.E. Ekanem, Lutheran Church of Nigeria president, said in a letter.

A majority of the distribution was accomplished on June 14, which was the Lutheran seminary's graduation day. During the exercise, ministers and lay leaders came to Obot Idim from many districts of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria.

The family of Elijah Ndon, currently serving as vicar at Hope mission in Milwaukee, incurred great personal expense to cover the cost of getting the shipment from the port to the seminary. We are indebted to them for their commitment to this effort. Ndon and his brother, Joshua, grew up in Nigeria and went to the LCN school. They know firsthand the needs of their people.

In his letter, President Ekanem pleads for more help as the needs of his church are very many. Please keep this church and all its members in your prayers, and consider contacting LCMS World Mission at (800) 433-3954 if you are interested in making a direct donation to the LCN.
