Youth leadership mentoring partnerships
Sunday, June 03, 2007 :: 1597 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Youth ::

The South Wisconsin District youth ministry advisory cabinet has partnered with Concordia University Wisconsin and Maximum Potential Strategies.org. to bring servant based/experiential learning in the area of Christian leadership. This is completed through "The Christian Steward Based Leadership Continuum Project" that breaks out a program into three facets, based on age appropriate activities for youth from 14-24 years of age.

The first available module, "Youth Leadership Mentoring Partnerships," was designed to introduce students to leadership experience in a variety of career and business settings. The focus of the program is to help support and provide a foundation for character building; leadership abilities and ethical decision-making based on the eight biblical stewardship principles. The key component of the program is structured around the relationship between a trusted guide, advisor and teacher (mentor) and a student (mentee) in their third or fourth year of high school. This student is willing to experience growth and learning in a common career, profession and/or interest that is shared with the mentor. The mentor provides opportunities for service and career experiences beyond classroom learning as a tool and guide to help prepare student for future leadership roles.
