Keynote Speaker

Rev. Dr. Kenneth Klaus

“Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed” is the way Pastor Ken Klaus begins the weekly messages on The Lutheran Hour radio program. For almost 80 years The Lutheran Hour has pointed sinful souls to the story of the Savior and His blood-bought story of salvation. It is the longest-running Gospel outreach broadcast in the world and airs on more than 900 stations across North America.

Pastor Ken Klaus, son and grandson of blacksmiths, was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois in 1948. In 1970, Pastor married Pamela who had been a classmate from their parochial school. The Lord has blessed their union with three children: Kurt, who is a pastor in Mountain Lake, MN, Kirsten Lenzen, a primary grade school teacher, and Kristianna, an occupational therapist in Dallas.

Previous to his appointment as Lutheran Hour Speaker, Pastor Klaus was administrative pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas. He has also served as a parish pastor in Minnesota, Illinois, and South Dakota. For his work among the Lakota Indians of South Dakota, he was given a Sioux name by the granddaughter of Chief Red Cloud. From 1996 to 2000, he functioned as the International Pastoral Advisor for the International Lutheran Laymen’s League, the sponsoring organization of The Lutheran Hour.

As Speaker Emeritus of The Lutheran Hour, Klaus can still be heard the last Sunday of every month. He continues as the author of free Daily Devotions which can be subscribed to by visiting http://www.lhm.org/email/register.asp. Pastor Klaus has also written two prayer books: one for use by those who are in the military and another to be used by those who are providing prayer support at home. Those booklets may be ordered by visiting http://www.lutheranhour.org/afn/order.htm.

Klaus also continues as the proprieter of the LHM Men’s NetWork Baloney Shop. There he cuts through the tomfoolery of things political, social and pseudo-theological. He has also authored an online study of Santa and another which demystifies the book of Revelation and makes it understandable for the common man.

Pastor Klaus holds a Master of Theology degree from Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill., a Bachelor of Arts degree in pre-seminary studies from Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Ind. In December of 2005, he was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin.
