All delegates, alternates, and attendees are required to register; however, day guests are exempt from registering. Guests needing meals and/or housing should register as a participant with delegate status of visitor.
There is no cost to attend. One primary contact at each LCMS organization should register their participants and guests such as spouses; individuals not affiliated with a church or school may register themselves.
In accordance with the Synodical Handbook, all ordained and commissioned ministers whose names appear on the official roster of the South Wisconsin District are required to attend the Convention. Those unable to attend should address their excuse to the Convention Registration Committee and send to 8100 W. Capitol Dr., Milwaukee WI 53222.
As a reminder, only chartered congregations have a vote, and multi parishes may have one lay delegate each. While an associate pastor can be the voting pastor, assistant pastors are not eligible to vote, nor are vacancy pastors or pastors called by the District. Rostered commissioned ministers, even if retired or not serving, may not act as lay delegates. Commissioned ministers are advisory delegates and may speak from the convention floor.
An accreditation form for lay delegates and alternate lay delegates must be signed by two officers and returned to the District office in addition to their registration. An earlier version of the form includes a fax number, but the original signed accreditation form should be mailed instead.
Registration
- Please register online for the convention. One individual should register all participants from the organization, with one payment for all meals and/or lodging.
- Collect individual registration information and meal/lodging choices from each participant at your organization before registering your group.
- Register all voting and advisory delegates - including laypersons and alternates. (Unless otherwise indicated by you, alternates receive the primary delegate's meals and housing.)

If you cannot register online, fax registration forms to the District office at (414) 464-0602, or mail to 8100 W. Capitol Dr., Milwaukee, WI 53222. Registration fill-in form
Deadline - March 26, 2012
While Synod bylaws only require accreditations be turned in by the opening of the convention, we ask that everyone register by March 26, 2012. Late registrations and accreditations make the planning process much more complicated for the steering committee which coordinates the convention. Late accreditations make it difficult to communicate important convention information to delegates, and can even result in delays to the beginning of the convention.
Since voting delegates present at the District convention will be responsible for voting online in the Synod president election in 2013, timely registration and accreditation is especially important this year.
REGISTRATIONS ARE STILL BEING ACCEPTED ONLINE THROUGH MAY 25.
Meals/Lodging
Pre-ordering meals is necessary for planning proper quantities. Meal tickets will not be available for purchase at the convention. Meals will be in the cafeteria, except Monday's dinner which will be at Trinity-Freistadt, Mequon. Lodging will be provided in on campus in Regent's Hall. Concordia University Wisconsin is a non-smoking and no-alcohol facility. There will be no refunds for meals and lodging. Purchase meals and lodging during registration.

2013 Synod president election
While District convention delegate selection has always been important, Synod Res. 8-17 has increased its importance For the first time congregations will participate in the election of the Synod president through their district convention delegates. The presidential voting privilege will be restricted to those delegates who actually attend the District convention. Four weeks prior to next year’s national convention, they will vote via the internet.
This warrants a “heads up”!
- The presidential voting privilege will be restricted to those delegates who actually attend their district conventions.
- To be certified for this process, delegates will be mailed a separate Synod voting delegate registration form to bring with them to our convention in June.
The District secretary will receive this Synod form at registration. He will then provide a list of delegates who were in attendance at convention to the secretary of the Synod. These lists will constitute the official list of eligible voters for the presidential election.
A bylaw does allow for “substitute voters” when district convention delegates are no longer members of the congregations they represented or are otherwise unavailable. But the bylaw does not provide opportunity for a congregation to name a substitute when a delegate fails to attend the district convention.
