COMMITTEE ON CONVENTION NOMINATIONS—DISTRICT
South Wisconsin District of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod
Membership
The membership of the Committee on Convention Nominations consisting of twelve (12) members—one ordained minister, one commissioned minister, and one lay person from each of the four regions—shall be elected by the district convention.
The Secretary of the District shall serve, by virtue of his office (ex-officio), as an advisory member of the Committee on Convention Nominations.
Requirements to Hold Office
All members of the Committee on Convention Nominations must hold membership in a member congregation of the district.
Meetings
The Committee on Convention Nominations begins meetings about ten months before the district convention. The committee determines the number of meetings necessary to accomplish its purpose.
Responsibilities
The Committee on Convention Nominations shall:
- nominate candidates for the various offices, boards, and committees as prescribed by the bylaws of the district,
- nominate twice the number to be elected,
- obtain the consent of candidates prior to placing their names on the ballot,
- prepare a biographical sketch on each candidate (including presidential candidates) which shall be presented to the convention delegates prior to convention, and
- perform such other duties as are incidental to the committee and as are assigned to them by resolution of the District or Synod and prescribed by the bylaws.
