DPI Transportation Q & A - Bulletin No. 09.02 - October 2009

2009/2010 School statistics District summary report

Mandated reporters - child abuse and neglect

Genesis Project - The Genesis Project helps LCMS congregations start Lutheran schools, which include early childhood, elementary, middle and high school programs.

SSAC - Strengthening Schools and Congregations - The purpose of the "Strengthening Schools And Congregations" (SSAC) project is to strengthen and re-vitalize Lutheran elementary schools that are experiencing problems, so that the mission of sharing the caring Christ can be more effectively accomplished in that place.

MTM - Ministry Technology Mentor Project - a program for Lutheran educators.  The MTM Project is here to provide principals and teachers in Lutheran schools more affordable, more accissible, and more practical training on how to correctly use technology as an educational tool in their classrooms and in their schools.

Green schools - Green and Healthy Schools - Green and healthy schools will be part of all of our futures.  Schools will be, if they are not already, trying to become "Green Schools." This website has ideas for helping with this
Building security - U.S. Department of Justice - Entry-Control Technologies - Keeping our building secure is more than just locking the doors during the school day. This website is a good place to look for ideas in all areas around our buildings.
Emergency management - You may need help with emergencies - police, fire, tornado, floods, etc. Every school should have a good working relationship with their local emergency providers. This state agency can help all of our schools in time of need.
Student Services/Prevention & Wellness - School crisis preparedness/safe schools series webcasts.

Helpful websites to protect your students:  (posted 7/17/08)
  • The first, http://www.familywatchdog.us, was developed by John Walsh in accordance with America’s Most Wanted, to identify convicted sexual predators living near any address in America. When you type in your school’s address, multi-colored icons will appear representing various degrees of sexual abusers or predators residing in the neighborhood. When you click on a specific icon, a picture of the offender and a brief description of their crime(s) will appear.
  • The second website, http://wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl , is a Wisconsin database of all court proceedings ranging from misdemeanor traffic offenses to murder one. Although the website only lists an individual’s Wisconsin record and is NOT an alternative to a complete background check, it can provide a general character reference. A word of caution, individuals with similar names will appear under the same search unless you include a middle name or birth date.
