Milwaukee County Correctional Facility—South

Rev. Daniel McMiller, SWD Missions Executive
(414) 464-8100

The South Wisconsin District continues to provide a much needed and vibrant ministry at the CCF-S (formerly the House of Correction). The LCMS and WELS chaplains there share office and chapel space as well as other resources such as computers, copy machines, videos and print media. They meet together to coordinate schedules and assure compliance with County Correctional Facility-South authorities while serving the inmates. Periodically, they also meet jointly with their immediate supervisors in their respective church bodies in order to avoid any misunderstandings, and to assure that shared resources are available to continue their separate and important ministries. From this effort 100’s of men have been baptized by LCMS pastors in the greater Milwaukee area, and many, many more men have heard the clear proclamation of the Gospel. In partnership with the Metro Milwaukee Lutheran Mission Society, many formerly incarcerated men are coming to Mission of Christ Lutheran Church on 9th and Center to receive support in what has been called “Free at Last Ministries.” A Mission Support Team is being developed to assist in the planning, resourcing and accountability of service to the men once they have been released from the CCF-S and start participating in “Free at Last Ministry” services and activities.
