The mission of Church Extension Fund is to provide opportunity to make funds and services available in support of the Great Commission through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
Principles:
The LCEF is committed to the concept of partnership in support of the ministry. The six guiding principles that guide us in our work are:
- LCEF is a ministry.
- LCEF serves congregations and a host of other Synod related organizations.
- LCEF is a partnership between investors, congregations and the church at large.
- LCEF's investors are fellow Christians who support our ministry.
- God has richly blessed LCEF through the ministry of volunteers.
- LCEF's actions are based on the question "Will this decision make a difference and further the Great Commission?"
History:
- Small beginnings... In 1902, several LCMS congregations pooled raised $400 to plant a new congregation. Church Extension was born.
- Another bold new idea... In the 1950s, Church Extension began offering investments. This concept not only helped new congregations get started, it provided investors a way to earn interest, build the financial future of their families, and support the mission and ministry of LCMS. It was called "Reaching Out With Interest."
- A national organization... LCEF was incorporated in 1978 to efficiently meet the changing state and federal requirements and regulations regarding investments. Today, 27 districts are members of LCEF.
LCEF today...
- LCEF provides a wide array of investment opportunities including savings certificates, term notes, growth certificates, congregational investments, IRAs, and more.
- LCEF provides funds, consultation, and demographic services to help new and existing congregations buy land and build and improve facilities for more effective ministry.
- LCEF works with Synod congregations, seminaries, colleges, universities, and elementary and high schools; partner churches around the world; and Recognized Service Organizations. Many of these ministries would not be possible if LCEF support was not available.
Information available through the LCEF web page is neither an offer to sell nor a request to buy any investments. This offer is made only in the offering circular.
