Dear President Wille:
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through whom alone we have forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation!
News of the weather-related calamities in your district deeply saddens me and your brothers and sisters at the International Center of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The property damage that has occurred is significant. The human toll of the aftermath of the devastation is even greater. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Relief is available and forthcoming, as appropriate, from the Board for Human Care Ministries of the LCMS. I encourage all to support the board’s efforts with monetary contributions and with their prayers.
Particularly significant at times like these are the familiar words from Romans 8: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or sword? . . . No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s grace mercy and peace be with you.
Dr. Gerald B. Kieschnick, President
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
