Welcome to the South Wisconsin District website! Our mission in South Wisconsin is to "connect, resource, and equip God’s people for bold witness to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus."
Whether you are looking for specific information or merely surfing the web, we pray that you are blessed by your time with us on this site.
There are a couple of Scripture passages that I encourage you to think about as you read through the information on this website. They are passages that define who we are as Missouri Synod Lutherans:
- 1 Peter 2:9, "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
- Philippians 1:4-6, "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
- Jude 1:22-23, "Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them."
May our Lord bless you with his forgiveness and with opportunities for "bold witness to the Gospel!"

| Rain and floods deluge the District | "The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock" (Matthew 7:25).
After June rains that flooded much of the Midwest, many local members' homes and some churches are still uninhabitable. Others are waiting for damage assessments to learn what losses may be covered by insurance.
Would you like to help? Monetary donations will be directed to congregations most in need. Please make checks payable to "South Wisconsin District—LCMS," and note "WI Disaster Relief" on the memo line. Give online

| Flood disaster response: FEMA and public health update |
FEMA has received nearly 30,000 phone tele-registrations from the nineteen Wisconsin counties with federal disaster declarations. Please get the word out about how important this registration is to those that have been impacted in these counties. The FEMA teleregistration and helpline number is (800) 621-FEMA, and the deadline is Aug. 13, 2008.
Many communities have begun recovery efforts, but it is imperative that volunteers call first before heading out to recovery sites. Organized teams are much easier to utilize and to control in this process. Calling "211" is a great resource for finding out about community needs and recovery efforts.
