The St. Louis-based Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, founded in 1847, has 2.5 million baptized members in 6,150 congregations served by more than 9,000 pastors. The church, which ranks as one of the 10 largest Christian denominations in the United States, owns and operates two seminaries, 10 universities, and the largest Protestant parochial school system in America. South Wisconsin District
The members of the South Wisconsin District are Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregations and ministries, pastors, teachers, and other professional workers located within the southern half of the state of Wisconsin.

Regional vice presidents and circuit counselors
The District president’s ministry frequently is extended to the congregations and schools, pastors and teachers of the South Wisconsin District in the person of a District vice president and/or of a circuit counselor.
We in South Wisconsin are privileged to have serving in our midst, giving assistance to our president, four vice presidents, one each from the four regions of the District—Northeast, Central East, Southeast and West. There are approximately one fourth of the congregations of the District in each of the regions.
There are also 27 circuits (7 to 11 congregations grouped in a geographical area) across the District. Each circuit is served by a counselor who works on behalf of the District president providing guidance, service and leadership to the workers and congregations in his particular circuit.
